Since 1941, Toledo, Ohio has been synonymous with Jeep manufacturing. Today, as the city celebrates Jeep Week—a three-day festival drawing thousands of enthusiasts from around the globe—we’re proud to reflect on Verdantas’ role in shaping this legacy.
From 1996 to 2006, our team (formerly Hull & Associates) led the environmental transformation of the former Chrysler Stickney Plant site—200 acres of brownfield land that now house the Stellantis Toledo Assembly Complex, a state-of-the-art facility designed to modernize Jeep production, and the Toledo Supplier Park. The new facility introduced innovative manufacturing processes and enhanced production capabilities, marking a pivotal moment in the plant's history and ensuring its role as a cornerstone of Jeep manufacturing.
Verdantas directed all environmental activities for the City of Toledo, including site assessment, remediation planning and oversight, and preparation for 28 industrial and commercial properties. This cleanup and expansion introduced innovative manufacturing processes, enhanced production capabilities, and ensured the plant’s continued role in Jeep production. The City of Toledo received the 2006 U.S. EPA Region 5 Phoenix Award for this project—an honor recognizing excellence in brownfield redevelopment.
Our work on the former Chrysler Stickney Plant is just one of the many examples demonstrating how brownfield cleanups can greatly impact the surrounding communities, leading to significant economic and environmental benefits.
